Enhance®Fitness, an evidence-based group exercise and falls prevention program, helps older adults at all levels of fitness become more active, energized, and empowered to sustain independent lives.
Program Description
- Physical activity program that includes a stable chair and resistance equipment
- 3 1-hour classes per week
- Led by a certified instructor
- Includes quarterly fitness assessments
- Class format
- A 20-minute aerobic workout
- A 5-minute cool-down
- A 20-minute strength training workout with soft cuff weights on the arms and legs (0 up to 20 pounds) or hand weights
- A 10-minute stretching workout to keep the muscles flexible
- Dynamic and static balance exercises throughout the class
Goals:
- Increase cardiovascular and muscular strength
- Improve balance
- Increase range of motion
- Build self-confidence and create independence
- Make new friends and acquaintances
