Swim Team
What we are about….
The YMCA of the Roses offers many different competitive swimming options. For the very young or those returning to swimming after an extended break, the Novice and Advanced groups offer an easy way back into the sport or as an introduction to competitive swimming. This offering features reduced fees, shorter practice times, and local competition.
For the experienced swimmers who want to get the absolute most out of their swim training and competition experience, the Junior and Senior groups offer increased practice time and USA and YMCA competition both regionally and nationally.
The following values are emphasized throughout the program:
Technical: learning good technique, efficiency, and beauty in the water.
Physical: developing speed and endurance through training all four strokes of the individual medley and training for an endurance based program.
Cognitive: learning about swimming and the rationale for stroke technique, training, and nutrition, etc.
Psychological: learning and practicing the attitudes of a champion; goal setting and maintaining poise under pressure.

Masters Swimming – Masters refers to age, not expertise!
Welcome to all levels, whether you already swim thousands of yards daily or have not done a lap in years. This is great for those looking for a low-impact, coached group workout or athletes looking to train for triathlons. Our coach will emphasize stroke mechanics, endurance, and for the competitive participant, speed and endurance training. For individuals Ages 19 and older (Practicing at Graham Aquatic Center)
Lightning Spring Clinic
Spring Clinics are a great way for new swimmers and returning swimmers to get ready for the summer swim team season.
10 & Under participants must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle and 25 yards of backstroke.
11 & older participants must be able to swim 50 yards of freestyle and 50 yards of backstroke.
Lightning Spring Clinic – Lampeter Strasburg
Tues-Thurs April 8th-May 13th (no class on April 17th)
10 & Under 5-6 pm
11 & up 6-7 pm
Lightning Spring Clinic – Millersville (Millersville University’s Pucillo Pool)
Mon-Wed, April 7th-May 7th
5-6 pm (all age groups swim at same time)
